Lodhi Garden: Delhi's Most Versatile Pre-Wedding Location

Lodhi Garden is, without question, Delhi's finest pre-wedding location. Spread across ninety acres in the heart of South Delhi, it contains five fifteenth-century tombs, an ornamental lake, rose gardens, and avenues of ancient trees that create extraordinary filtered light throughout the day. The combination of Mughal architecture, manicured lawns, and mature tree canopy means that within a single session, you can produce images that look like they were taken in five completely different locations.

The best time: arrive thirty minutes before sunrise (around 6:15am in winter, 5:45am in summer) and you will have the park almost entirely to yourself for the first ninety minutes. The light at this time is impossibly soft and warm, the lawns are dew-covered, and the Sheesh Gumbad tomb glows like it's lit from within. By 9am the garden fills with walkers and the magic fades.

For couples who want the classic Delhi heritage look without travelling to Agra or Rajasthan, the area around the Bara Gumbad is genuinely world-class. The proportions of the architecture, the surrounding lawns, the enclosed courtyard — it all works beautifully for photography.

Mehrauli Archaeological Park: Delhi's Best Kept Secret

Most Delhiites have never been here. Mehrauli Archaeological Park, adjacent to the Qutub Minar complex, contains dozens of forgotten Mughal and Sultanate-era structures set in seventy acres of semi-wild land. Unlike the manicured parks of central Delhi, Mehrauli feels genuinely ancient — crumbling archways draped in bougainvillea, open tanks reflecting the sky, narrow paths through overgrown enclosures that seem unchanged in centuries.

The photography here has a rawness and authenticity that is impossible to find in more polished locations. The Jamali-Kamali mosque and tomb, the Balban's Tomb, the Rajon ki Baoli stepwell — all are located within short walking distance of each other and all offer extraordinary compositions. The stepwell in particular, a geometric descent of carved sandstone steps down to dark water, produces photographs unlike anything available elsewhere in the city.

Hauz Khas Village: Urban Romance with Heritage Backdrop

The ruins of the fourteenth-century Feroz Shah's madrasa and mosque at Hauz Khas sit on the edge of a large lake, surrounded by the art galleries, cafes, and boutiques of Hauz Khas Village. This juxtaposition — medieval ruins in a modern urban creative district — creates a unique photographic atmosphere that appeals to couples who want something contemporary yet rooted.

The best time here is golden hour, when the lake surface turns copper and the sandstone ruins glow amber against a darkening sky. In winter, when the migratory birds arrive at the lake, the location gains an additional layer of natural beauty. Access to the monument itself is easy and the viewing terrace over the lake is an extraordinary spot for couple photography.

Agrasen ki Baoli: The Most Dramatic Pre-Wedding Shot in Delhi

The fourteenth-century stepwell near Connaught Place is one of Delhi's most striking photographs that is consistently underused for pre-wedding sessions. Palam Farms and Chattarpur: Delhi's Farmhouse Belt

For couples who want lush greenery, open fields, and a sense of rustic luxury, the farmhouse belt stretching from Palam to Chattarpur offers numerous private properties that can be accessed for pre-wedding sessions. Unlike heritage monuments with time restrictions and crowds, private farmhouses give complete creative control — you can use artificial lighting, change outfits multiple times, and shoot through the day and into the evening.

From Mehtab Bagh, the Taj Mahal is framed across the river and reflected in the long canal, giving you the classic view without the crowds of the monument complex. The light across the river in the late afternoon is extraordinary. We recommend a 4pm session in winter months for the best combination of colour and clarity.

Rajasthan offers perhaps the most spectacular pre-wedding photography outside Delhi. The blue city streets of Jodhpur, the lake reflections of Udaipur, the sand dunes of Jaisalmer at golden hour — each destination offers something that cannot be found anywhere else.
